Wonderful Makeover Ideas for Your Home

Thinking of giving your humble abode a new look?

Giving your home a makeover truly sounds exciting but you also have to remember that this requires time and effort. Additionally, redecorating or renovating a house or apartment in Hong Kong can be a bit of a challenge considering the space involved or the specific results you have in mind.

Of course, you can always call in a trusted interior designer in Hong Kong to do the magic for you. But if you prefer to do things on your own, here are some home makeover ideas that might help you.

1. Pick a new color theme.

If your interiors have had the same color for quite some time, it’s highly likely that you’re getting bored of it. Picking out a new color would be a wonderful start. Using a particular color that matches or contrasts with your furniture can create harmonious effect inside your room.

2. Get rid of old stuff.

Take a look at your stuff in the living room, bedroom or any other area. If there are items you haven’t used in a long time, it’s about time to let them go. Now you have enough space for new items.

3. Rotate furniture and other fixtures.

The easiest way to give your home a new look without spending a lot of money is to rotate your furniture around. Taking your comfort into consideration, you can rearrange it in any way you like. You may choose to rearrange your furniture so that they are facing the best view in the room.

4. Create dramatic lighting.

To make indoor lighting more dramatic, you may want to change the color of your lamps or add lighting fixtures with dimmers. You can hide LED lights that may be too bright or soften the light by covering them with colored fabric. To add more light during daytime, you can place a large mirror opposite to a window.

5. Rearrange accessories.

It’s not all that necessary to buy new accessories every time you redecorate. If you’re on a tight budget, all you have to do is rotate your decorative items around the room. Move items to a different shelf or change throw pillows and switch them around.

6. Liven up your bare walls.

Bored of lifeless walls? Start by using wallpaper with elegant patterns or hang pieces of art. Think of a theme for your walls. Hang drapes or curtains if you prefer the classy look. If you adore photographs, start your very own photo wall and put up memorable photos with friends or those of your travels.

7. Paint your ceiling.

The ceiling is one part of the room that is often neglected. Show it some love by painting it with a predominant color. Paint stripes to create movement.

8. Use window treatments.

Never underestimate the power of window treatments. Curtains not only allow you to control the amount of light in a room, they also bring life to it. Choose curtains that perfectly complement the room’s color theme.

9. Use pleasing scents.

Redecorating your home appeals to the eyes. Why not do something for your olfactory senses too? Place a potpourri or scented candles in a corner or in your center table. The pleasant aroma lingering in the room will surely tickle the senses and surprise guests.

10. Add a touch of nature.

Connect with nature in the simplest way by placing a plant or a small tree in a corner. A sight of green is soothing and relaxing to the eyes. Consider starting a miniature garden in your windowsill. You can grow small plants in decorative pots or ceramics.
